The following scholarships are available to the Class of 2018; those for only Gettysburg Area High School (GAHS) students are so noted.

Endowed and pass-through scholarships

ACNB Bank Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship based on a combination of merit and need, but with financial need the primary factor. The scholarship is intended to assist low- or moderate-income individuals or families with gross incomes of less than $54,800.

Adams Electric Cooperative Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship to a Gettysburg Area High School graduating senior who has at least one parent or guardian as a customer of Adams Electric Cooperative. Student must have a high school GPA of 2.5 or higher and show a commitment to community service (at least 25 hours). Available for 2-year, 4-year or technical education. Financial aid component.

American Legion Albert J. Lentz Post 202 Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship awarded to each of two students graduating from Gettysburg Area High School and who demonstrate high quality citizenship. Financial need component.

Andrew Waybright Memorial Scholarship
$1,000 award honoring fallen Gettysburg firefighter Andrew Waybright. Given to a Gettysburg Area High School student who is currently involved in emergency services and who displays dedication, cooperation, regard for others, courage, and leadership. The student should be planning on furthering his/her emergency services education. Based on merit alone.

Anthony and Rosemary Bogden Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship to a Gettysburg Area High School student entering a vocational or technical program of studies. Financial need component.

App-Steimling Family Scholarship
Two $1,000 scholarships to students going to a 4-year college or 2-year technical/trade school, with preference for health sciences, business, and/or leadership. Financial need component.

Bernie Hoylman Memorial Scholarship
$500 scholarship to a student going to a 4-year college or university and planning on entering the field of elementary education. Financial need component.

Boehne Family Scholarship
$2,000 to a student participating in Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts with preference given to a student having achieved G.S. Gold Award or B.S. Eagle Award. Financial need component.

Dorothy Ely Thomas Music Scholarship
$500 scholarship to a GAHS student who attended Franklin Township Elementary and who is planning on pursuing a college education in music or music education. Awarded on merit alone.

Dr. and Mrs. Cleveland Null Scholarship
$500 to a student eligible for a GADS scholarship. Financial need component.

Dr. and Mrs. Larry Redding Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship to a Gettysburg Area High School student completing an approved career and technical education program. Financial need component.

Ella Dougherty Weaver $5,000 Scholarship
A renewable scholarship for a student with financial need who meets all of the general Dollars for Scholars criteria. The scholarship is for $5,000/year and is renewable for up to three additional years "so long as the recipient is progressing normally toward a degree, maintains an overall passing average, and continues to demonstrate financial need."

Foreman-Peck Scholarship
$750 to a Gettysburg Area High School student who attended Eisenhower Elementary School for a minimum of one year. Financial need component.

Gerald E. White Memorial Scholarship
$1,500 scholarship to a student living in the Gettysburg Area School District who plans on attending an accredited 2- or 4-year postsecondary technical or academic program and who played Varsity Baseball or Varsity Softball. The student does not have to be a GAHS student. Based on merit alone.

Gettysburg Area Education Association Scholarships
Multiple scholarships awarded to Gettysburg Area High School students entering the teaching profession. Based on merit alone.

Gettysburg Area High School Band Booster Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship to the student who has participated in the most best-qualified Band and Band-related activities.

Gettysburg Area High School Class of 1978 Scholarship
$500 scholarship to a DFS-qualified graduating senior from Gettysburg Area High School only. Financial need component.

Gettysburg Cross Country Invitational Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship to a student who plans to attend an accredited post-secondary education institution, who was a member of the Gettysburg Area High School cross country team both junior and senior years, and who was the top finisher on the GAHS team at the PIAA State Championship meet his/her senior year.

Gettysburg High School Alumni Association Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship to a GAHS senior pursuing a career in education (teaching, school librarian, etc.). Financial need component.

Gettysburg High School Class of '65 Scholarship
$750 to a Gettysburg Area High School student, this scholarship is based on Dollars for Scholars criteria. Financial need component.

Gettysburg Optimist Club Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship presented to each of two students graduating from Gettysburg Area High School. Financial need component.

Gettysburg Post Veterans of Foreign Wars Scholarships
$500 to each of two students. Financial need component.

Gettysburg Warriors Athletic Booster Club "Heart of the Warrior" Scholarships
$1,000 to each of two students attending Gettysburg Area High School and planning to attend an accredited 2-year trade/technical or an accredited 4-year college program. Students must have have been on the team roster of the same GAHS PIAA varsity sport both junior AND senior years. Students must participate in at least 5 hours of service during junior and/or senior years. Service must be to a Gettysburg Area School District athletic team or teams, community athletics, athletic event(s), and/or the Gettysburg Warriors Athletic Booster Club. Service examples include but are not limited to: coaching AYSO, staffing an athletic tournament event, helping after-school sports workshops, helping Special Olympics, helping GWABC projects, etc.

Hoover Family Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship given to a student who will be attending an accredited 2- or 4-year technical/vocational or academic post-secondary education AND who has been employed by Kennie's Market for at least 10 months.

Hutchison Family Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship to a Gettysburg Area High School student entering a 4-year program majoring either in any area of engineering (mechanical, chemical, civil, software, etc.) or in nursing. Financial need component.

Idona Teeter Scholarship
$2,000 scholarship awarded to a Gettysburg Area High School graduating senior planning to enter the nursing field. Financial need component.

J. David Getty Scholarship
$500 scholarship to a student entering the field of telecommunications (e.g., production, broadcast journalism, scriptwriting or new media development) or print journalism. Financial need component.

Jacqueline Kay Knox Memorial Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship awarded to a Gettysburg Area High School student pursuing higher education in the field of the arts: performing, visual, music, dance, writing, directing, producing or any related field or hands-on creative skills such as culinary arts. Financial need component.

James Gettys Elementary PTO Scholarship
$500 scholarship to two students who attended the James Gettys Elementary School for at least one full school calendar year. Financial need component.

Jay Sixeas Memorial Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship to a GAHS student who plans on attending an accredited 2- or 4-year post-secondary technical or academic program and who played and lettered in Varsity Baseball his junior AND senior years; based on merit alone.

Joan Maloney Scholarship
$1,000 to a Gettysburg Area High School student desiring to pursue a career in education or school administration. Financial need component.

John C. Straile Memorial Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior majoring in a mental health field, such as psychology, counseling, social work, nursing or physician's assistant. Financial need component.

Justin C. Ruch Memorial Scholarship
$500 scholarship to a student pursuing a 2- or 4-year technical/vocational or academic program and who demonstrates a long-term commitment to extra-curricular activities, sports, and/or community service.

Louise and David Sayre Family Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship awarded to a Gettysburg Area High School graduating senior who shows exceptional community service involvement of an on-going nature; the student can be attending any post-secondary accredited 2-year, trade-technical or 4-year academic program. Financial need component.

Mary A. Fidler Medical Professions Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship awarded to a Gettysburg Area High School student entering the health care field, with first consideration given to those students entering nursing; financial need component.

Mike's KARS, Inc. Technology and Trade Scholarship
$500 scholarship awarded to a student entering a trade or technical school, with preference given to a student pursuing an education in an automotive specialty. Financial need component.

Mildred A. Widder Award for Excellence in the Arts
$500 award based on awards and honors received for art work and art achievement. Merit only.

National Honor Society Scholarships
$500 merit scholarships awarded to each of the three top-scoring applicants who are members of the Gettysburg Area High School Battlefield Chapter of the National Honor Society. Two based on merit alone, one based on merit and financial need.

National Honor Society Scholarships
$500 merit scholarships awarded to each of the three top-scoring applicants who are members of the Gettysburg Area High School Battlefield Chapter of the National Honor Society. Financial need component.

Paul S. and Mary Lou Burkholder Scholarship
$1,500 scholarship to a Gettysburg Area High School graduate who plans to enter the teaching profession with preference given to a student entering elementary education.

Rev. Douglas and Eunice Boden Family Scholarship
$500 scholarship to a Gettysburg Area High School graduating senior entering the field of education. Financial need component.

Richard and Ruth Jean Unger Scholarship
$1,200 scholarship to a student who has participated in a school-district-recognized alternative pathway or support program which enabled the student's on-time graduation. Financial need component.

Robert Fidler Award
$1,000 to a Gettysburg Area High School student with perfect attendance in grades 10, 11, 12. Merit only.

Shirlee S. Cavaliere Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship going to a Gettysburg Area High School student entering the field of biology or environmental science; based on merit only.

Stanley Wolf Family Memorial Scholarship
$500 scholarship to a graduating senior residing in the Gettysburg Area School District and pursuing a 2- or 4-year degree in Agricultural Sciences including Environmental Science and Resource Management.

Temple Family Scholarship
$500 scholarship for a student entering the building/general construction trades such as carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, masonry; if no student in those areas applies, the scholarship goes to someone pursuing music (performance, vocal, instrumental, therapy or education). Financial need component.

Thomas P. Henninger Scholarship
$500 to a Gettysburg Area High School student displaying financial need; general DFS criteria.

Wade A. Schroyer Memorial Scholarship
$500 scholarship awarded to a Gettysburg Area High School graduating senior who has been a varsity member of a GAHS varsity sports team for at least 2 years, with preference given to a student who has been a two-year member of the varsity golf team. Merit only; student does not have to show any financial need.

William Dodson/Ernest Fogle Memorial Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship for a student entering a 4-year program with an interest in one of the following: agriculture, technology, or health/life sciences. Financial need component.

William H. Yohe, III Memorial Scholarship
$1,500 scholarship awarded to a Gettysburg Area High School graduating senior going into a trade or technical field, with preference given to a student who will concentrate in the electronics field. Financial need component.

Zeigler Music Education Scholarship
$500 scholarship to a student pursuing an undergraduate degree in (1) music education or (2) music performance. Based on academic merit and musical ability; no financial need component.

Scholarships funded by the community and the board of directors

A Lincoln for A Lincoln
Funds raised through our "A Lincoln for A Lincoln" Campaign: $500-$1,000 scholarships. Financial need component.

Gettysburg Area Dollars for Scholars Board of Directors Scholarship
$2,000 given at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Preference to students who have shown initiative to improve their academic standing and have potential for college success and may have participated in the alternative pathways program. Financial need component.

Gettysburg Area Dollars for Scholars General Scholarships
Scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000 are open to all applicants who are graduating seniors living in the Gettysburg Area School District, regardless of the high school from which they will graduate. These scholarships are supported by the general funds of Gettysburg Area Dollars for Scholars. Based on the overall strength of the student's application and financial need.
