About Gettysburg Area Dollars For Scholars®

Gettysburg Area Dollars for Scholars® (Gettysburg, PA)  is a chapter of the national Scholarship America® organization. Gettysburg Area Dollars for Scholars (GA Dollars for Scholars) is a 501(c)(3) community-based volunteer organization, the purpose of which is to raise local money and distribute post-secondary scholarship funds to high school seniors living in the Gettysburg Area School District. Because of GA Dollars for Scholars' 501(c)(3) status, gifts to the organization are tax deductible.

Organized in May 2004, GA Dollars for Scholars continues working to energize the Gettysburg community to provide at least part of an answer to the concerns and needs of our families, many of which will be struggling to pay the costs of higher education. GA Dollars for Scholars money will go directly to where it is needed, paying a portion of those educational costs so that more students can afford an education beyond high school. It is our hope that these students will remember that their community helped them and remain here-or come back--as productive members.

In May 2013, Gettysburg Area Dollars for Scholars awarded $63,600 in scholarships through our program, pushing its nine-year total to over $423,000 to students entering both technical and academic and two- and four-year programs.  We hope that strong Community support will help the organization reach the half-million-dollar mark by May 2014, our tenth anniversary!  Please consider being a contributor to our cause in support of the youth of the Gettysburg Community!

And if you are graduating in the Class of 2014 and you or your parents live in the Gettysburg Area School District, PLEASE consider applying for our many scholarships!  We will be offering at least $65,000 in scholarships this year.
