About Gettysburg Area Dollars For Scholars®
Gettysburg Area Dollars for Scholars is a Dollars for Scholars chapter of the national Scholarship America® organization. Gettysburg Area Dollars for Scholars (GA Dollars for Scholars) is a community-based volunteer organization, the purpose of which is to raise local money and distribute post-secondary scholarship funds to high school seniors living in the Gettysburg Area School District. Because of GA Dollars for Scholars' 501(c)(3) status, gifts to the organization are federally tax deductible.
Organized in May 2004, GA Dollars for Scholars continues working to energize the Gettysburg community to provide at least part of an answer to the concerns and needs of our families, many of which will be struggling to pay the costs of higher education. GA Dollars for Scholars money will go directly to where it is needed, paying a portion of those educational costs so that more students can afford an education beyond high school. It is our hope that these students will remember that their community helped them and remain here-or come back--as productive members.
In May 2014, Gettysburg Area Dollars for Scholars awarded over $76,000 to 49 students who entered technical and academic and two- and four-year programs. We are thankful for the strong Community support which enabled us to surpass the $500,000 mark in total scholarship giving during that tenth anniversary year! Please consider being a contributor to our cause and supporting the youth of the Gettysburg Community on into the future!
And, if you are graduating in the Class of 2015 and you or your parents live in the Gettysburg Area School District, PLEASE APPLY for our many scholarships! We will be offering at least $75,000 in scholarships this year.
